Problems on the computer front... again

As an IT guy, I can recommend AVG anti-virus free addition works great. I,knock on wood, have not had any problems with viruses in the 8 years using it. The only programs I use are AVG, Windows Defender, and Windows firewall. The only other thing that might be getting used is the Comcast firewall they put on their modem, not sure how secure that is.

Try AVG and run a full scan once or twice a week and that should help. Also, those adult sites are not too friendly (thats just a joke).

Penetraion w/o damage response.

There is no indication that this is a thread about whining or complaining about the game until the thirteenth post. You do mention that you will still complain about the game in the sixth post, but not that this thread is solely about complaining about the game. I got the impression from the start of the thread that you were giving out WoT statistics which I found interesting and useful. Price then contributed with a post about why there odd occurrences with penetration. M3lrin then commented on that it was a useful post and jokingly(or not) said he'd hope y'all would stop complaining about it. After that it is an explanation of how game mechanics works.

If there's going to be a post about people whining or telling others to stop whining it needs to be clearly defined from the beginning. Most preferably being defined in the title of the thread itself. I'm going to say both parties need to stop taking this thread off topic since the original intention was about informing others of the statistics of module damage.

Though going into the discussion from before it got derailed, the game world runs on game mechanics. You can shoot guys in CoD alone with 20mm shells and it will maybe scratch them. There are blocks of C4 being thrown around that are at least five to six pounds and that would demolish a building by themselves and they do hardly any damage to the 'people' around them. The shockwave alone would kill them from much farther away from where they stand and get scratched.

Getting directly onto WoT mechanics, they have some physics in the game, but it is not real life. In real life, a tank typically takes one shot(that has to penetrate and enter the main dwelling area for the crew) and is either evacuated or has severe enough damage to it that it is no longer in fighting order. If we want to get into energy transfer between two objects, then that is still in effect. When a object strikes another, the object in motion(Object A) does not transfer all of its energy into the other object(object B). In the case of real world armor, ricochets and glances happen quite frequently. When the shells hit a piece of armor at an angle, they have a high chance of just being deflected off. The energy from the projectile, for the most part, stays with the projectile. If there is a significant amount of energy from the projectile then it can ignore the angle and will go into the object in front of it. This last part is actually IN WoT. They reduce the effect of angles with higher penetration, but do not negate them totally.

The same goes with penetrations that do nothing to the tank or crew. A great example of this is in World War II: Many M4 Sherman drivers were thankful that their armor was so thin that when a Tiger would shoot them, it would go in one side and straight out the other. The Sherman was a terrible tank, but if the Tiger shot it in the wrong place IN REAL LIFE it would do absolutely nothing to hinder the Sherman. Now with WoT, modules can and do absorb a significant amount of damage at times. It is an in-joke that a driver is an effective, extra 60mm of armor on the front of the tank. The game itself does not give an indicator as to when 'critical damage' or damage to a module is done. As the link Price posted, it is very likely that all the hits that do no HP damage are doing significant module damage. This is how the game works. You can not bring very much from the real world into the WoT world. Just like the example with CoD, you can't compare this to the real world.

I would also like to point out that since I joined the closed beta, the shots doing 'no' damage have existed and were just as frequent if not more than they are now. It has actually gotten better and still is better than it was when you would shoot a tank 16 times and have proper penetration from the rear and do no H.P OR module damage due to the penetration and armor mechanics being off by quite a bit.

You can however bring tactics into this world that work both in the real world and the game world. That is the exception. I'm going to make a post tomorrow containing the link Price has found, the information you have posted in the starting post, and a few other useful links. I would like a link to where you received that information Tonka so that I might have an easy access link to source material.
